I was at a panel of the 1983 worldcon in Baltimore, wondering what all the laughing was about in the room next door. I later found out and long wanted to kick myself in the butt for missing that. It was about the then-upcoming movie "The Right Stuff". If I remember correctly, its panelists included Gordo Cooper, Chuck Yeager, Scott Glenn and Dennis Quaid.

Sounds like an excellent time, and there are panels I'd love to attend (particularly the one about publishing fanfic; I suspect that'll be interesting, especially as the one business that to my knowledge has tried to make money off of fanfic specifically has demonstrated that they Just Don't Get It) - alas, my budget means no worldcon every year, so I picked the one that'll let me visit my grandmother. Enjoy yourselves a little extra for me, please.

Looks like I'm not on program this year, sigh. No idea why....

But I'll be at the con, and hanging out both with Karen at the dances and at the SF Outreach Program table handing out books. I'm bringing along a few cool show-and-tell items (like an original Fancyclopedia, a first of The Enchanted Duplicator, and more). Hope to see various people there!

Tom (#7), I have reason to believe you may be hearing from this year's Worldcon about adding you at the last minute to a particular panel -- indeed, you may have heard from them already by now.

I am actually on 4 program items after all, but still the best place to find me is the SFOP "booth", which is near the back of the Exhibits area. Lots of interesting books there being given away, including some of the NESFA Press Chad Oliver hardcovers. And I'll have some oddities with me on various days, so come on by and chat -- I'll specifically plan to be there around noon each day, until one definitely and often later, since my program items are all at later times in the day.
