I haven't seen such grade-A scenery chewing since ... well, Alan Rickman, in a variety of roles, really.

If you're going to write a role for melodrama, you really need an actor who can pull it off, and she's basically yanking it off like one of those magicians with the tablecloth full of good china and candlesticks, IMO.
